What
is the Revenue Sharing Plan for Channel Providers?
 |
| |
In
exchange for distributing The Scene, the Channel
Provider will receive a percentage of the Gross
Revenues generated by the limited number of highly
targeted messages delivered by The Scene. The percentage
will depend on many factors such as: (a) how many
free content messages are delivered on behalf of
the Channel Provider, (b) which party shall assume
the cost of distributing The Scene and its content,
(c) which party shall deliver customer support,
(d) the extent to which the Channel Provider and/or
its sponsors provide incentives to its customers
to download The Scene, and (e) the extent the Channel
Provider and/or its sponsors participate in The
Scene’s loyalty programs (shopping merchandise and
sweepstakes). |
| 2. |
Can
the Channel Provider customize The Scene?
 |
|
Yes.
The Channel Provider may brand it any way compatible
with the software including, but not limited to,
renaming the software and changing the graphics,
sounds and player. |
| 3. |
The
Scene is compatible with which operating systems?
 |
|
The
Scene required Windows 98 Second Edition and higher.
The Scene does not work with Apple operating systems.
|
| 4. |
What
video player must be installed?
 |
|
The
Scene has its own proprietary player; accordingly,
it does not require Media Player, Real One Player
or Quicktime. |
| 5. |
Why
is video quality so good for both dial up and broadband?
 |
|
The
Scene does not stream video; rather The Scene politely
downloads and caches video messages on the user’s
hard drive, in the background, while the user is
online. The user will not be aware of this polite
download. Playback from the local hard drive results
in ads playing perfectly and without delay all of
the time regardless of whether dialup or broadband
is being used. The Scene provides an opportunity
for advertisers to leverage their offline creative
assets. |
| 6. |
Are
the video messages interactive? |
|
Upon
completion of a video message, there is an optional
interactive opportunity during which the advertiser
can collect valuable, customized information from
users, which cannot be collected through pure video
delivery. Upon receipt of the user’s input, a targeted
incentive or additional message can be delivered
to reinforce the original message. Additionally,
users can be directed to a particular site dependent,
or not, on the user’s input. |
| 7. |
Will
The Scene increase traffic to advertisers’ sites?
 |
|
A
key differentiator of The Scene is that it delivers
highly targeted messages directly to users. These
messages are not delivered as a result of a user
visiting the advertiser’s site. Accordingly, The
Scene is “user-centric” not “site-centric.” After
a message is delivered, the user will have an option
to visit the advertiser’s site, which link can be
made dependent on interactive feedback provided
by the user. |
| 8. |
What
is the size of the download file? |
|
The
initial software is only approximately 400 KB, which
includes registration. Once registration is completed,
the balance of the program downloads and installs
in the background. It is approximately 1 MB in size.
If the computer is turned off during download, it
will resume when next connected to the Internet.
There is an auto-update function that will ensure
that the user has the most recent version of The
Scene installed. |
| 9. |
Where
does the user go for support?
 |
|
Support
may be provided by either The Scene or the Channel
Provider, whichever the Channel Provider prefers.
This impacts the revenue sharing arrangement, as discussed
above. |
| 10. |
What
are the sizes of the messages?
 |
|
Messages
can be any size; however, The Scene recommends a resolution
of between 480x360 and 320x240. The video message
can be located in one of five locations on the user’s
monitor. |
| 11. |
Doesn’t
the playing of a message while dialing up block the
dialog box communicating the dialup status?
 |
|
During dialup, the dialup status is shown in The Scene’s
player, clearly embedded in the top right hand corner
of the frame. |
| 12. |
What
is the Cost per Thousand (CPM) to advertise?
 |
|
Pricing is based on many factors such as:
• whether the message is a POPtion®, Connect or
Disconnect advertisement,
• whether targeted incentives are offered/delivered
to users,
• the degree of targeting, i.e., the percentage of
The Scene’s network being targeted,
• click-through rates to the advertiser’s website,
• required preparation of video messages for compression,
and
• volume commitments of the advertiser. |
| 13. |
What
targeting criteria are available?
 |
|
Available criteria include:
• Geography such as zip code, DMA, MSA, longitude,
and latitude,
• U. S. 2000 Census consisting of over 30 cultural
and socioeconomic criteria,
• Integration with existing Channel Provider databases,
and
• User-supplied profiles. |
| 14. |
What
is The Scene’s privacy policy?
 |
|
No personally identifiable data is ever requested
or stored. The Scene does not use cookies or any kind
of marketing spyware. The Scene does not know who
the user is. Only their detailed participation in
The Scene’s ads and the information users provide
about their lifestyle preferences are collected. |
| 15. |
What
are The Scene’s loyalty programs?
 |
|
The “My Advertising Points Program” (MAPP) is already
integrated into the Scene software. This is a points
accumulation program that rewards users for downloading
The Scene software, viewing messages, referring friends,
and other activities such as advertiser-sponsored
games. These points can ultimately be redeemed for
the purchase of products and services from The Scene’s
shop supported by advertisers, Channel Providers and
their sponsors. |
|
|
| 16. |
What
message formats can be delivered?
 |
|
Formats include:
• Video
• HTML
• Flash |
